LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — Man Dies After Violent Vehicle Theft and Multi-Car Crash Outside Walmart

Las Vegas authorities are investigating a deadly chain of events that unfolded over the weekend near Charleston Boulevard and South Decatur Boulevard, resulting in the death of 37-year-old Benito Saragosa.

According to police, Saragosa was inside a black Hyundai parked outside a Walmart while the vehicle was still running. He was reportedly resting in the passenger seat at the time while a family member had gone inside the store.

Investigators say 55-year-old Harold Allen unlawfully entered the vehicle and drove away with Saragosa still inside, triggering a dangerous series of collisions through central Las Vegas.

Chain of Collisions Leads to Fatal Outcome

Police report that the stolen vehicle first struck the rear of a silver minivan, causing it to spin. The Hyundai then continued northbound before crashing into a rock and striking a light pole, bringing the vehicle to a violent stop.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Allen sustained minor injuries, while Saragosa was found critically injured inside the vehicle and transported to hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite medical intervention, Saragosa was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the minivan suffered minor injuries, while a passenger inside that vehicle was not hurt.

Authorities confirmed that Saragosa and Allen had no prior connection before the incident.

Arrest and Charges

Police arrested Harold Allen at the scene. He has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on multiple charges, including:

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
