Staff Sgt. Daniel Putnam, a member of the North Dakota Air National Guard, has passed away at the age of 21, leaving behind a grieving family, fellow service members, and community.
A native of Frazee who later made his home in Fargo, Putnam served with the 119th Wing after joining in 2021. He was known among his peers for his dedication, professionalism, and strong sense of duty.
As a Cyber Defense Operations Specialist with the 119th Operations Support Squadron, he played a vital role in maintaining secure communications and supporting both state and national missions. His work, though often behind the scenes, was essential and carried out with focus and purpose.
In addition to his military service, Putnam earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from North Dakota State University in 2025, reflecting his commitment to growth and excellence.
Those who served alongside him remember him not only as a skilled professional but as a trusted friend and valued member of their unit. His loss is deeply felt across the “Hooligan” community and beyond.
